Former U.S. National Team Member and World Championship's
U.S. National Team Coach, Master Jin W. Suh has been
studying the art and sport of Taekwondo for over 20 years.
Master Suh' reasons for studying Taekwondo were for
self-defense, for the discipline it instilled and to
continue the family tradition. He expanded his martial arts
knowledge while he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from
1989-1993. During his tour of duty, he was stationed in
South Carolina, California, North Carolina, Okinawa, Japan,
and Korea. While stationed in Okinawa, Master Suh studied
Kyokushin Karate, a form of Japanese full contact martial
arts, in which he excelled as a competitor.
As a World-Class Taekwondo competitor, Master Suh has won at
the state, regional, national and international circuit. He
is a former New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut State
Champion, National Collegiate Champion, and U.S. National
Team Member. Master Suh represented the U.S. National Team
at the 1998 Pan-American Championships in Lima, Peru and the
2000 World Cup Championships in Lyon, France as well as a
U.S. Team to Venezuela in 1996 and Mexico in 1998. Master
Suh was awarded the "Best Athlete Award" by the
Korean-American Council of Amateur Sports in 1995 and 1998.
In September of 1997, Master Suh opened his first High
Performance Taekwondo Center in Astoria, Queens where his
Team High Performance trains. The Astoria center has been
producing and developing National Champions every year since
1998. Students from all over New York area and New Jersey
continue to travel hours on a regular basis to train under
Master Suh.

In September of 2000, Master
Suh hosted and directed his first Taekwondo tournament, the
Gold Cup National Taekwondo Championships. Presently it is
the biggest and most competitive Taekwondo tournament in the
Northeast. The Gold Cup has been drawing competitors from
over 20 states and 5 countries over the year's and is
continually growing. Each year you can expect to see the top
fighters and teams competing at the Gold Cup.
In 2005, Master Suh co-founded the New York Sport Taekwondo
Commission. The NYSTC was established to support the sport
Taewkondo movement in the New York area. Under his
leadership and guidance, the NYSTC sponsored over 30 elite
athletes to compete in major international championships in
the Netherlands, Germany, and Great Britain. The NYSTC
program has developed U.S. National Team Members, U.S.
National Champions. Junior National Team Members, and
National Collegiate Team Members.

Also in 2005, Master Suh was
selected as a U.S. National Team Coach by USA Taekwondo for
the 2005 World Championships in Madrid, Spain. In 2006,
Master Suh was awarded "Best Coach" by USA Taekwondo for his
accomplishments and achievements coaching his Team High
Performance which also won the Best Team award at the U.S.
Open Championships that year winning 32 consecutive matches
with no losses. Master Suh's Team High Performance has been
producing U.S. National Team Members since 1998. |
